Success and Initiative

November 12, 2008 - 8:19pm by TeGoulet

Success: the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted

Initiative: the power or ability to begin or to follow through energetically with a plan or task; enterprise and determination.

It has been in my experince that success is tied to initiative. You can have all the brains in the world, all the right friends and all the right words and still not do anything in this world.

It takes initiative, a step towards action on order to be successful. Any average person with a lot of initiative will go far in this life.

I highly recomend you take the first step towards what you want to do in life right now.

When I was 18 (only 3 years ago) I decided I wanted to start my own concert production company. I didn't know anything about the business but I took the initative to learn and get involved. Pretty soon I was hosting great local punk shows. I even got a band from new Zealand to come play for me!

Because of my initiative I have come a long way in life. I am currently at the university of washington triple majoring in communication, political science, and community environment and planning. I am the new member educator for my fraternity, the director of marketing for this website, the director of youth outreach for king county community wide forums, a guest blogger on a harvard blog and still manage to have time to hang out and blog. :-)

I write this to inspire all those that read it that they can do anything they want as long as they have the initiative to take the first step to do it.

Good luck and keep blogging! This site is a great way to take initiative and do something great with your time.

Everyone should be given the same opportunity to achieve the way that you have.

I realize that effort is 100% malleable but do you believe that innate ability also contributes to success? Many people find their niche due to their natural talents and adaptivity to the goals they wish to achieve.

I recognize that different people have different talents. However, I believe that you really can be all you want to be if you have enough initiative and determination.

By only going with what you're good at you're limiting the posibility of what you can do. The only way to get better at something is to keep at it.

Hey Ultimate Success=Ultimate Desire=Happiness

So what is the "successful life"?

TeGoulet wrote on November 19, 2008 - 7:00pm:

to me the successful life is one where you are happy and you are able to make others happy.

Perfect

Success is too often associated with money and then with happiness. "If you are succesful, i.e have lots of money, then you will be happy."
